At the end of a meeting of nearly four hours-about three of them were spent in the executive session-members of the Ethics Committee in Oklahoma were voted to follow up on the litigation against the supervisor of public education Ryan Walters regarding allegations of violations of the campaign financing law.
The Wallets Committee summoned in January after the Waltraz appeared to be submitted to submit the campaign financing records of his 2022 campaign to the state supervisor. As the chairman and secretary of his own campaign committee, Waltz is personally responsible for submitting mandatory quarterly reports to the Ethics Committee on time.
Although the investigation disclosed in January is still exactly unclear, what are the rules for financing the campaigns that the Ethics Committee believes that Walters violated. Last year, Wallets settled complaints that he had submitted late financing reports by paying $ 3,000 from fines to the committee. Correspondence between the committee’s lawyer and lawyers in October and December indicates that the settlement of late fines is not related to calling depositors in January and the latest procedures on Thursday.
However, Commissioners did not discuss the nature of allegations during a meeting on Thursday. Instead, they unanimously agreed to the proposal of “the executive director to move forward in case No. 2024-03, and was discussed in the executive session and follow-up to the prosecution in the provincial court.”
When asked about the comment after the meeting, Executive Director of the Ethics Committee Lee Ann Bruce Bonn said that she does not want to comment on the cases while not to present paperwork. When the Prosecutor was asked with the judicial jurisdiction that will be referred to the case – Public Prosecutor Jintner Dramund or the lawyer for Oklahoma Vicky Behene said – she “cannot confirm or deny” an answer.
A spokesman for Dromond said on Thursday afternoon that his office has not yet heard from the committee.
A spokeswoman for Walters did not respond to the commentary before publishing this article.
Community: The Terms to settle the issue of separate ethics
Also on Thursday, Commissioners voted for approval of the proposed settlement agreement in cases 2024-37 and 2023-27. These common cases deal with allegations that some social media functions in Witrz violate the rules of ethics. In January, the committee voted to pursue the prosecution against Walters for these cases, but it seems that Wallets had reached a settlement with the committee since then.
Bon said that she would send the settlement document to media members as soon as she was signed. In a letter sent to Wallets on December 18, the lawyer for the Margaret Kiir Ethics Committee claimed that Wallets was properly published materials using state funds, property or time “to defend the elections or to defeat a clearly specific candidate for an optional office” and used social media preserved in the name of a government agency to the same end.
Kerr has included many examples, often included tweets from the Walters’ Ryanwaltersutut account, which he calls his “personal account” in his autobiography:
- On October 9, 2023, Wallets issued a statement of Oklahoma, saying, “During the era of President Trump, Israel could have been assured that the United States had appeared, but under the Biden administration, the enemies of Israel, USA,”
- On or around June 23, 2024, he re -posted it on Twitter a post from Trump and added a comment: “Thank you Realdonaldtrum! Here in Oklahoma the country’s money in education reform;”
- On October 30, Walters was published on Twitter, partly, “We need Realdonaldtrum again in the White House;”
- On October 31, someone used a Twitter account in the Ministry of Education in Oklahoma to post a video that included footage of immigrant children climbing the wall on the Mexican border. Words, “from 2021 to 2023, 3000 unaccompanied immigrant children were sent to Oklahoma”, in the picture. (Kiir said that the publication gives the impression that the state’s Ministry of Education does not support President Joe Biden and defend his defeat in the November 2024 elections);
- On October 31, Walters published a video and an illustrative name on Twitter saying: “The biggest threat to our economy, our children and our families (Vice President) Kamala Harris;”
- On October 31, posted on Twitter saying: “Time closed the border down: Elect Realdonalrtrump and JDVANCE;”
- On November 4, Walters was published on Twitter, “Tomorrow, we will elect the Realdonaldtrump;” and
- On November 5 – Electoral Day – I Waltz posted on Twitter, “I have just made voting for President Trump” and “Let’s restore President Trump in the White House and regain this country on the right track!”
The actions of the Ethics Committee come amid increasing speculation about the 2026 electoral plans. It is widely believed to have been interested in appointing a national within the Trump administration, and Walters has also been popular as a candidate of the governor of the state. However, with the announcement of the Bixby Rob Miller, his campaign for the year 2026 for the state supervisor, some believe that Walters can finally choose to run for his re -election instead of the highest position.
The last Walters financing report for the campaigns was presented on January 31, in detailing contributions in his campaign for the fourth quarter of 2024. During this quarter, Walters reported that $ 6588 and spent $ 4,9303. At the end of the reports period, the Walters for Superintendent 2022 campaign announced a balance of $ 64,236.
The largest spending in the latest Walters report was $ 29,000 to America Viewoint, a public opinion company, on “polling”.
